Description |
The nameplate is a light brown, cuboid-shaped wooden block. On the front, there is a black inscription that reads, "MASTALESZ, WALTER R." All of the other sides are blank. This nameplate comes with a note that reads, "These wooden name plates were from an outdoor neighborhood billboard. Names were of the neighborhood boys who enlisted. After the war, the billboard was dismantled and the wood was brought to the Skelton Branch of the Trenton Free Public Library supposedly to use as firewood. The plates were found in a barrel in the basement of the Skelton branch right before it closed in (2010?), and were brought to Trentoniana shortly after. Many of the names appear to be Polish and since the area where the Skelton Library was located was predominantly the Polish community, it is assumed that is the neighborhood where the billboard was located." |
