Whistle Company Clear Bottle |
Description |
The bottle is clear and cylindrical, with an embossed inscription on both the front and back. The bottle narrows significantly near the top, where a rim flares out twice. The inscription on both sides reads "WHISTLE. REGISTERED." Beneath the inscriptions, a series of elevated rectangles encircle the bottle. On the front, two of the rectangles are embossed with the text "5 1/2 (rectangle 1) FL. OZS. (rectangle 2)." The top of the bottle is open, revealing the inside. According to Collectors Weekly and Memphis Magazine, Sylvester Vess Jones founded the Whistle Company, also known as the Orange Whistle Company, The Whistle Company of St. Louis, the Whistle Bottling Company, the Whistle-Vess Company, and the Vess Bottling Co., in St. Louis in 1915. The company had distribution centers across the United States, including cities such as Memphis, Tennessee; Jacksonville, Florida; Dubuque, Iowa; New Bedford, Massachusetts; and Trenton, New Jersey. Overall: Accretions, fogging, and scratches throughout. Front: There is a large white accretion on the top near the left side. There are many small white accretions on the center near the middle. There is a black accretions on the center near the middle. And finally, the glass is fogged. Right Side: There is a scratch on top near the middle. There is a black accretions on the bottom near the middle. And finally, the glass is fogged. Back: There is a scratch on top near the left side. There is a brown accretion on top near the middle. There is a scratch on the center near the middle. There are black accretions on the center near the middle. And finally, the glass is fogged. Left Side: There are white accretions on the center near the middle. There are black accretions on the bottom near the left side. And finally, the glass is fogged. Top: There is wear around the rim. Bottom: There are abrasions on the rim. There is a slight crack going around the rim. |
