Description |
The nozzle is a dark gold, cylindrical-shaped brass hose nozzle. The bottom flares outward, while the nozzle tapers significantly towards the top, which features an elevated rim. An engraving near the bottom of the front reads, "POWHATAN B&I WORKS. RANSON, W.VA." The nozzle has a small hole on top that connects through to the bottom, where a much larger hole is located. This nozzle was part of a fire hose used by the Trenton Fire Department. According to trentonnj.org, the department's history dates back to 1747, when the Union Fire Company was established as a volunteer fire department. Trenton maintained a volunteer force until 1892, when it transitioned to a professional department. The department began using gas-powered vehicles in 1909 and fully phased out horse-drawn carriages by 1919. In 1959, a museum was opened to document the department's history. A 1999 referendum led to the fire division splitting from the Department of Public Safety to become an independent entity. Overall: Accretions and discolorations throughout. Corrosion on the inside. Front: There are black accretions on the bottom near the middle. There are abrasions on the bottom near the middle. There are black accretions on the center near the middle. And finally, there is a dark gold discoloration that starts on top and goes until the center. Right Side: There are black accretions on the center near the middle. Also, there is a dark gold discoloration that starts on top and goes until the center. Back: There are black accretions on the bottom near the left side. Also, there is a dark gold discoloration that starts on top and goes until the center. Left Side: There is a large black accretion on the bottom near the center. Also, there is a dark gold discoloration that starts on top and goes until the center. Top: There is a dark gold discoloration all around the rim. Also, there is green corrosion on the inside. Bottom: There are black and white accretions around the rim. Also, there is a little bit of green corrosion on the inside. |
