ESB Stokes Attraction Pannel |
Description |
A light blue rectangular shaped attraction panel with a black and red inscription on the front. The panel is covered with glass on the front. There is a black rim going around the edges of the front and back. There are holes that go through the bottom located on the right and left sides. The inscription reads, "ESB. Stokes." The "ESB" portion of the inscription is colored black, and the "Stokes" portion of the inscription is colored red. The "ESB" portion of the inscription is surrounded by a red and black circle. The "S" in the "Stokes" portion of the inscription is surrounded by a rectangle. The two portions of the inscription are separated by a black line. The back of the panel is white. According to a document found in the Trentoniana collection, Joseph Stokes started what would become ESB Stokes in 1897. They primarily manufactured rubber-based products, most notably molds. Joseph Stokes also had an interest in several other rubber companies ran by his sons, including the Home Rubber Company and the Trenton Rubber Company. The Electric Storage Battery Company (hence the ESB) acquired Stokes in 1946 after a labor dispute almost put them out of business. ESB Stokes would eventually go out of business in 1988.
